Why we built Loops

We learned that a lot of early-stage startups had given up on emailing their users well. The tools they had were bloated and dated.

At launch, Chris called Loops “the tool I wish I had at every company I’ve built and every company I’ve worked for.” Today it sends marketing, lifecycle and transactional email from one contact record.

Chris and Adam started Loops in 2022 as a Y Combinator company. After a year of building, we launched publicly in September 2023 with a $3.2M seed round led by Craft Ventures. Founders from Dropbox, Framer, Lattice, Codecademy, BloomTech and Dover backed us too.

Since then we’ve moved production to AWS with zero downtime, and this year we shipped Workflows, a CLI and connectors for Claude and ChatGPT. The changelog has the rest.

Who uses Loops

Framer, Linear, Perplexity, Granola, Sanity, Clerk, Modal and Sketch are all Loops customers. Framer has been one since December 2022.

Framer sends 100% of its email through Loops, from newsletters and product campaigns to onboarding flows and transactional email.

Cosmos replaced SendGrid and Braze with Loops. Its onboarding, transactional email and monthly product updates now run from one contact list.

Runable has sent more than 10 million emails through Loops in about a year.

At Trails, the team set Loops up in 30 minutes. Co-founder Ryo Chiba now has an agent build the emails and checks them before they send.

More stories are on our customers page.

How we work

We’re eleven people, fully remote, and we hire 1 to 3 people a year. We ship to production every day and write things down so context is easy to find later.

Everyone stays close to customers. Framer, Cosmos and Runable each have a shared Slack channel with the team.

We have no open roles right now, but our careers page has more on how we work. That’s it! Have a great day 👋
