# Group billing

> Combine billing for multiple Loops teams under one subscription.

If you run several Loops teams, you can combine them into one billing group. All teams in the group are covered by a single subscription, and every team gets paid plan features.

## How group billing works

One team in the group is the primary team. Its subscription stays active and covers every other team in the group.

Your plan tier is based on the total subscribed contacts across all grouped teams. This is less expensive than paying for separate subscriptions, because one higher tier costs less than several lower ones.

For example, if Team A has 4,000 subscribed contacts and Team B has 3,000, the group is billed for one plan that fits 7,000 contacts rather than two separate plans.

There is no limit to the number of teams in a billing group.

### Free teams

Free teams can join a billing group. Once grouped, they get all paid plan features, including:

* No Loops branding in emails
* No monthly sending cap
* [Paid sending rate limits](/docs/account/billing#sending-rate-limits)

## Billing dates

A billing group is billed on the primary team's billing date. Joining a group doesn't change this date.

Like all Loops plans, the tier is [calculated at renewal](/docs/account/billing#how-we-calculate-your-tier). When a team joins the group, its subscribed contacts are added to the primary team's subscription from the primary team's next renewal.

If a team joining the group already has its own paid subscription, that subscription is canceled. We'll work out any remaining time on it with you when setting up the group.

## Set up group billing

Group billing is set up by the Loops support team.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Subscribe one of your teams">
    Start a paid subscription on one of your teams from its [Billing page](https://app.loops.so/settings?page=billing). This team becomes the primary team. If one of your teams already has a paid subscription, you can skip this step.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Contact support">
    Contact us at [help@loops.so](mailto:help@loops.so) or through chat from your [Support page](https://app.loops.so/settings?page=support), and let us know which other teams you want to include in the group.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Receipts and invoices

All invoices and receipts are sent from the primary team's subscription. To change who receives them, update the **Billing receipt emails** section on the primary team's [Billing page](https://app.loops.so/settings?page=billing).

## Removing a team from a group

To remove a team from a billing group, contact [help@loops.so](mailto:help@loops.so). Teams are not removed automatically, so we'll work with you on what happens next, such as moving the team to the free plan or starting its own subscription.
